Position Description :
This role is intended to develop the AIT into a well-rounded turf professional. The Assistant-In-Training will work directly with the golf course maintenance management team in planning and conducting daily course maintenance and developing new maintenance processes.
Responsibilities:
Irrigation management
Pesticide and fertilizer application
Assisting in maintenance planning
Daily course set-up and equipment operation
Instruct and train staff in safe equipment use, proper maintenance, and required safety supplies to ensure safe operating procedures are followed
Organize and keep accurate records on maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, safety meetings, and staff assignments
Leading small groups to accomplish maintenance and course project goals.
Leadership – Maintain a positive, upbeat role, promote and exemplify Company values and represents departmental objectives and interests to internal and external customers
Customer Service – Follow up on complaints, questions, and concerns; respond to internal/external customer needs in a friendly, timely and efficient manner
Teamwork - Develop and promote teamwork and cooperation among co-workers
Safety – Comply with established safe work practices and attend to all safety-related training provided or made available by the Company.

Requirements:
Reasonable oral, written and communication skills
Operate trucks and light motorized equipment
Ability to make reasonable decisions using acquired job-related knowledge and common sense
Ability to see details (trash, ropes and stakes that are out of place), proper set-up of tees and proper cup locations
Ability to understand and follow directions
Ability to work cooperatively with others
Must possess a valid California driver’s license and maintain a clean DMV record
Qualifications:
Candidate must have or be working toward a 2–4-year Turfgrass Management degree or Turfgrass Certificate
2+ years of golf course maintenance experience preferred.
Responsibilities will be diverse and initially dependent on experience.
