Description
Position Overview
Victoria East High School is seeking a high-energy, relationship-driven coach to join our football staff on the defensive side of the ball. The ideal candidate is a kid magnet —someone who naturally connects with student-athletes, builds trust, and brings daily energy and intensity to the program.
This position is for a coach who not only understands defensive football at a high level, but also knows how to teach it, inspire it, and build a culture of toughness, discipline, and relentless effort. We are looking for someone who can help lead our defense while fully investing in the growth of our student-athletes on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the development of the defensive scheme.
• Teach fundamentals, technique, and position-specific skills across the defensive unit.
• Plan and execute practice structure, drills, and defensive game preparation.
• Break down film, self-scout, and develop weekly opponent game plans.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with players, parents, and staff.
• Promote a physical, aggressive, and disciplined defensive identity.
• Assist with strength and conditioning and offseason development.
• Support academic accountability and player eligibility standards.
• Contribute to special teams and overall program success as needed.
• Help build and maintain a strong, positive football culture.
What We’re Looking For
• A high-energy defensive coach who brings passion and urgency every day.
• A strong communicator who can teach and simplify complex defensive concepts.
• A kid magnet who connects naturally with student-athletes and earns their trust.
• Relentless competitor with a defensive mindset built on toughness and discipline.
• Detail-oriented coach who understands game planning and adjustments.
• Team-first leader willing to serve wherever the program needs most.
• Strong character, integrity, and ability to model consistency for players.
• Passion for developing young men beyond football.
