Job description We are currently working in partnership with a Project Delivery Consultancy , a specialist construction consultancy delivering residential, commercial and industrial developments across the UK, who are recruiting for an Assistant Clerk of Works on a permanent basis. The position is due to start on notice and offers a salary of £40,000 - £45,000 per annum , dependent on experience. The ideal candidate will have previous experience within a construction quality, site management or Clerk of Works environment, with a strong technical understanding of residential construction and a passion for delivering high-quality projects. The role will be predominantly site-based across London and the South-East, with occasional travel depending on project requirements. Duties will include (but are not limited to): • Carrying out regular, structured site inspections across multiple live residential developments • Reviewing works in progress and completed works to ensure compliance with Employer's Requirements, drawings, specifications, Building Regulations and home warranty standards • Identifying, recording and following up on defects, observations and non-conformances • Using the company's digital inspection and reporting software to capture progress photographs, site observations and professional inspection reports in real time • Liaising directly with contractors, clients and the wider project team to promote quality throughout the construction process • Escalating unresolved or recurring quality issues where appropriate • Maintaining accurate and auditable inspection records and quality trackers • Supporting the Quality Team throughout construction, Practical Completion and the Defects Liability Period • Working closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and contractors to ensure consistent quality standards are achieved Experience required: • Previous experience as an Assistant Clerk of Works, Site Manager or within a similar construction quality role • Experience working on residential construction projects • Experience carrying out site inspections, quality assurance or defect identification • Experience working collaboratively with contractors, consultants and project teams Skills, knowledge and expertise required: • Working towards Chartered status with ICWCI and/or MCIOB • Good technical knowledge of construction methods, building regulations and residential quality standards • Confident communication skills with the ability to challenge poor workmanship in a professional and constructive manner • Competent using digital inspection, snagging or reporting software • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail • Ability to manage multiple site inspections and maintain accurate reporting records Rewards and Benefits: • Flexible working arrangements • Private healthcare following successful completion of probation • Nest Pension • Supportive, collaborative and people-focused working environment • Modern inspection and reporting systems that reduce administration • Clear support and development within an established Quality Team Working hours: • Monday – Friday • Full-time Please note that you will require recent relevant construction experience to be considered for this role.
