About This Role The Assistant Child Care Teacher is accountable for assisting the classroom teacher in managing and supervising an early childhood classroom. To foster the social/emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children, this position works closely with lead teachers. The candidate must possess professional qualifications as an assistant teacher of young children, especially in early childhood education or development, and be prepared to meet licensing and Young Star agency requirements. As a sensitive and mature individual, this person must be able to establish strong relationships with children and adults alike, and be committed to fulfilling responsibilities in line with the center's educational philosophy. What You'll Do Essential Job Duties: • Assists children in acquiring self-help skills and appropriate personal hygiene habits, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. • Performs a variety of duties to enhance the growth and development of children, ensuring their safety using approved behavior guidance and care giving techniques that align with the program's objectives. • Maintains clear communication with parents, builds relationships with families, and provides care that is inclusive of the family. • Fulfills all responsibilities in accordance with the center's educational philosophy. • Completes all legally-required reporting for the health and safety of the child, adheres to all licensing rules and center policies, and ensures the health, safety, dignity, and basic rights of each child are protected. • Has clear communication skills with parents and works to build a relationship with families to provide care that is inclusive of the family. • Works together with other staff members to create a positive, team-oriented environment in the center. • Manages time effectively, arrives on time, and maintains high attendance standards.
