Description
About the position Coach the Lyonfish Synchronettes artistic swimming team. Help with practices, clinics and meets, while instilling Y values and helping develop strong individual athletes and a strong team. This position requires 4-6 hours a week, especially during practice times, 2 of these three days: Tuesday 6:30-8:30pm, Thursday 6:30-8:30pm and Sunday 3-5:30pm. Responsibilities • Work with Head Coach to create curriculum and help run practices, ensuring that the swimmers are getting the most out of practice and improving their skills. • Help swimmers prepare for competitions and clinics. • May be asked to travel to meets, skills assessments and clinics as needed. • Be mindful of the safety of the swimmers during practices. • Work with the Head Coach and other assistant coaches to create a program that encourages swimmers to strive to do their best and continue to gain confidence. • Attend staff and committee meetings as needed or directed by supervisor. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. • Demonstrate support for YMCA special events and the Best Friends Campaign by participating and aiding in the delivery of some events. Requirements • Must be at least 21 years old. • Maintain certifications required by USA Artistic Swimming and associated Club. • Advanced knowledge in practical, theoretical, and psychological concepts of synchronized swimming. • Artistic swimming experience and Coach Certificate or willingness to work towards that and interest in learning about artistic swimming. • An understanding of age characteristics of child and adolescent development. • A positive, friendly attitude and strong interpersonal skills • Knowledge of Association goals and objectives. • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people from all social and economic segments of the community. • CPR/AED/First Aid required; ASHI or equivalent. • Lifeguard certification desired. • Child Abuse Prevention – pre-hire and Annual Refresher • Y Cause and Culture – within first 30 days • New Hire Orientation – within first 45 days Nice-to-haves • Lifeguard certification desired.
