Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Area Sales Manager to join our team in the sales and services (parts and repairs) of Sulzer Pumps / Water & Industrial Business Unit products (pumps, mixers, agitators, compressors etc.). In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for cultivating and expanding client relationships, driving revenue growth through strategic account management and business development initiatives. Your energetic approach and excellent communication skills will empower you to negotiate effectively, identify new sales opportunities, and deliver tailored solutions that meet our clients’ needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead with enthusiasm, influence market growth, and contribute to our company’s ongoing success. Our successful candidate will primarily work independently with occasional guidance from the National Sales Manager PPI.
How You will Contribute:
• Develop growth in new and existing customer base.
• Negotiate orders including all technical, commercial and legal details.
• Call on prospective customers; maintain contracts with customers.
• Travel to customer locations to insure close and regular face-to-face contact.
• Secure and renew orders; arrange delivery dates and other peripherals integral to selling.
• Customer meetings during and outside normal business hours on a regular basis consistent with expense budgets and good business practices.
Other Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:
• Manage sales programs within the assigned territory, maintaining accurate records and providing activity reports as required.
• Follow up on overdue customer invoices in a professional and timely manner.
• Support alliance customers and ensure their needs are met effectively.
• Stay informed on new products, services, and relevant information to better support customers.
• Escalate customer concerns to the appropriate department and follow through to ensure satisfactory resolution.
• Comply with policies regarding safety, including but not limited to proper use of required PPE at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
• An Engineering degree or 5+ years of experience in pumps, hydraulics, or a related field.
• Proven experience marketing and selling industrial equipment, including pumps and motors.
• Strong written, verbal, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
• Resilience, professionalism, and a positive attitude in overcoming challenges and objections.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; SAP experience is preferred.
• Strong technical and analytical problem-solving abilities, with the ability to address internal and external customer concerns.
• Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight travel by vehicle and air, as required within the assigned territory.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
