Description
A government/defense contractor is seeking a Systems Engineer specializing in Ansible Automation to architect and own enterprise-scale automation frameworks for secure, compliant infrastructure deployments. This role requires deep expertise in designing Ansible playbooks, modular role structures, and configuration management systems that support federal and DoD-adjacent environments.
What You'll Do
• Architect and own enterprise-wide Ansible automation frameworks and scalable playbooks
• Design modular, version-controlled automation aligned with infrastructure lifecycle management and CI/CD pipelines
• Automate system provisioning, patching, hardening, and compliance validation for Linux and Windows environments
• Collaborate with Security, Infrastructure, and DevOps teams to align automation with compliance frameworks such as STIG, NIST, and RMF
• Provide technical mentorship, governance, and documentation standards for automation assets across large multi-environment infrastructures
What You Need
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of systems engineering or infrastructure automation experience
• Demonstrated expertise architecting and owning Ansible automation frameworks, including playbook development, role-based architecture, and inventory structuring at scale
• Strong knowledge of Ansible Tower/AWX orchestration platforms and Linux system administration
• Experience integrating Ansible into CI/CD pipelines and strong scripting skills in Python or Bash
• Ability to manage automation in large, multi-environment infrastructures and understand Infrastructure as Code principles
Nice to Have
• Experience in security-focused or DoD-adjacent environments with STIG hardening, NIST 800-53/RMF controls, or FedRAMP/IL-level environments
• Active or prior security clearance
• Experience with containerized or cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GovCloud
• Familiarity with GitOps methodologies and patch management/vulnerability remediation automation
