Description
The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Instructor positions in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. ABA certification in anesthesiology or status as a candidate in the examination system along with ability to obtain a Pennsylvania license are required. Responsibilities may include teaching and clinical responsibilities. Teaching responsibilities for this position include the instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows rotating through the operating rooms and wards of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) as well as participation in lectures, small groups, workshops, and/or simulation sessions. Clinical responsibilities for this position include the provision of clinical anesthesia at HUP and PPMC. Opportunities are available with a focus in neuroanesthesia, obstetrical, cardiovascular, and/or critical care, including tele-critical care. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to participate in several educational seminars to prepare them for an academic career.
