An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join a Local Authority legal team on a fully remote basis. This role offers the chance to work on a rewarding and varied caseload, supporting vulnerable adults and advising on complex social care matters within a collaborative public sector environment.
The successful candidate will provide legal advice across a broad range of adult social care matters, working closely with adult services, safeguarding teams and senior officers.
Duties will include:
• Managing a caseload of adult social care and Court of Protection matters
• Advising on Care Act responsibilities and safeguarding issues
• Conducting and advising on Deprivation of Liberty matters and related applications
• Supporting Mental Capacity Act matters and best interests decisions
• Providing legal advice to social workers, officers and senior stakeholders
• Drafting applications, witness statements and legal documentation
• Representing the Authority in court hearings and tribunals where appropriate
• Advising on ordinary residence, funding disputes and judicial review matters where required
• Ensuring legal compliance and providing pragmatic, solution-focused advice
Candidate Requirements
Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors, Barristers or Chartered Legal Executives with relevant adult social care experience.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Strong knowledge of adult social care law, the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act
• Experience handling Court of Protection matters
• Previous Local Authority or public sector experience is desirable
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to manage a varied caseload independently
• A practical and proactive approach to problem-solving
