Description
The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) is seeking applicants for a full-time  Administrative Assistant in the  Governmental Relations  Department . This position reports to the  Associate Executive Director of  Governmental Relations   and  will be headquartered in IASB’s  Lombard  office. Position Summary : The  Administrative Assistant   is responsible for  providing support to the Governmental Relations Department by aiding the team with core activities and providing administrative support to the Associate Executive Director and staff. Responsibilities include assisting with communications and publications, scheduling and organizing virtual and in person IASB meetings and events, organizing travel accommodations, filing IASB expense and other reports, managing legislative information and calendars, staffing Association committees, and communicating with school board members. Education and / or Experience Requirements : The  Administrative Assistant,  Governmental Relations   position  requires a  h igh school diploma or equivalent , basic knowledge of the Illinois legislative process, five years related administrative work experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.  Candidates should  possess  exceptiona l interpersonal skills,  p roficiency  in word processing  and Microsoft Office Suite, ability to  use of the Illinois General Assembly, Illinois Secretary of   State, and Illinois State Board of Elections websites , and b asic knowledge of how to work with data bases, charts, and graphs.   Additional  competencies include  proofreading  and editing  skills, the ability to  organize office space, files, and data , and  h igh  degree of self-motivation and time management. This position requires the employee to be able to be able to lift, move, and safely handle boxes and materials up to 25 pounds. The position offers  an annual salary of $3 6 ,000 – $4 5 ,000, with  a   generous benefits package  that includes holidays,  vacation and sick time, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, and retirement benefits. Position will be Hybrid Work eligible.
