Finance Officer Maternity Cover (12-Month FTC)

Manchester (Hybrid available after onboarding) £28,000–£32,000 pro rata 21–28 hours per week 12–14 month fixed-term contract
A brilliant opportunity has come up for an experienced Finance Officer , Bookkeeper , or Assistant Accountant to join a supportive team and take ownership of day-to-day finance operations during a maternity cover contract. This role offers real flexibility : part-time hours, hybrid working after training, and a chance to join an organisation with real social impact, without needing prior charity experience.
What you'll be doing
• Manage accounts payable/receivable and cashbook transactions
• Reconcile bank and petty cash
• Process payroll through bureau and manage pensions
• Oversee Sage 50 accounting system
• Produce reports for SMT and budget holders
• Support monthly and quarterly financial processes
What we’re looking for
• Experience in a finance role (Finance Officer, Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, etc.)
• Proficient with Sage 50 and confident working independently
• A self-starter who can adapt to evolving processes
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• A team player happy to roll up their sleeves in a busy but friendly environment

• Salary : £28,000–£32,000 pro rata, depending on experience
• Hours : 21–28 hours per week – flexible working available
• Location : Manchester, with office presence needed for first few weeks
• Contract : 12-month fixed-term (with potential to extend to 14 months)
• Start date : ASAP with handover planned
