AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. This position is based in our satellite production facility in Midland, TX .
Position Summary
AST SpaceMobile is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and reliability of production equipment, facility systems, and manufacturing operations within our satellite production facility. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, repairing equipment, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, electrical troubleshooting skills, preventative maintenance experience, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, military maintenance, aerospace, electronics, reliability engineering, or industrial operations is highly preferred.
Pay: up to $42 an hour based on experience, with overtime opportunities .
Schedule:
3rd Shift – Weekends: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (3x12 schedule) with a 20% shift differential and paid lunch and breaks
4th Shift – Weekend Nights: Friday–Sunday, 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. (3x12 schedule) with a 25% shift differential and paid lunch and breaks
hat you’ll do:
Preventative & Predictive Maintenance
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, machinery, and support equipment.
Inspect equipment and systems to identify wear, potential failures, and reliability concerns.
Document maintenance activities using maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Assist in developing and improving preventative maintenance programs.
Troubleshooting & Repair
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems.
Diagnose equipment failures using schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and diagnostic tools.
Repair or replace motors, sensors, relays, switches, pumps, conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, valves, and related equipment.
Utilize multimeters, hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to identify root causes and restore equipment functionality.
Manufacturing & Production Support
Support production operations by responding to equipment breakdowns and minimizing downtime.
Coordinate maintenance activities to maximize equipment availability and operational efficiency.
Assist with installation, modification, relocation, and commissioning of production equipment.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
Facility Maintenance
Maintain building systems including lighting, HVAC, plumbing, compressed air systems, and electrical infrastructure.
Perform general facility repairs and maintenance activities as needed.
Maintain safe and efficient facility operations.
Safety & Compliance
Follow OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety practices, and company safety procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Participate in safety audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies and applicable regulations.
