Description
The Role
As a Compliance Technician , you'll be out on the road visiting customer sites across the region. Your work will include:
• Testing and surveying fire alarms, sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, passive protection, and handheld fire equipment and other specified systems.
• Ensuring all systems meet NZ Standards and the Building Act.
• Deliver a safe, accurate, and professional compliance services.
This is a full-time, permanent role (40 hrs/week, Mon–Fri) and unlike plenty of jobs these days, this one cannot be done by AI, so your skills are always in demand.
We’re looking for an experienced Tester/Surveyor who knows their way around NZ Standards and compliance requirements. You will need to be able to use a mobile device to enter your test results and timesheet.
What we are looking for

• A clean NZ driver’s license
• Minimum 2 years’ experience
in Fire & Building Compliance in NZ (preferred)
• Working knowledge of NZ Standards and the Building Act
• NZQA Systems Technology Level 3 (or willingness to complete it)
• New Zealand residency
• Ideally you will already be based in the Hawkes Bay region
Ideally, you come with:
• Effective communication skills
• A keen, motivated attitude; and desire to learn
• A full, NZ driver’s licence
• The physical fitness to be able to carry work equipment around sites.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Fire & Building Compliance in NZ.
• A working knowledge of NZ Standards and Building Act.
• NZQA Systems Technology Level 3 is preferred. Completion will be required if you don’t hold it already.
