Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) Location: Nottingham Contract Type: Full-time, Ongoing Salary: £85 – £95 per day The Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to provide individualised support for a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN), specifically focusing on a child with a restrictive food intake disorder. This position offers the chance to make a real impact on a student’s learning experience, working closely with the child to support both their educational and personal development. Key Responsibilities: • Provide 1:1 support to a student with a restrictive food intake disorder, ensuring a nurturing and supportive environment. • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored educational activities and interventions that meet the child’s individual needs. • Support the child with social, emotional, and sensory difficulties related to their eating disorder, promoting positive interactions and behaviours. • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, teachers, and healthcare professionals to implement effective strategies for managing the child’s condition in school. • Monitor and document the student’s progress, communicating regularly with parents and staff regarding any concerns or achievements. • Encourage and reinforce the child’s independence and confidence in both their academic work and personal care. The Ideal Candidate Will: • Have experience working with children with SEN, particularly with complex needs related to eating disorders or sensory issues. • Demonstrate a caring, patient, and compassionate approach, understanding the sensitivities involved in supporting a child with a restrictive food intake disorder. • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the school team, parents, and external professionals. • Be flexible and proactive, able to adapt to the changing needs of the child. • Have knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures, ensuring the child’s safety and well-being at all times. Requirements: • Experience working in a school or SEN setting, ideally supporting children with complex medical or behavioural needs. • An understanding of restrictive food intake disorder (training can be provided). • A valid DBS on the update service or the willingness to undergo a new enhanced DBS check. • Level 1 Safeguarding certification (or willingness to obtain).
