Are you a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for providing 1:1 support? A welcoming primary school in Acocks Green is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to work with a student who has special educational needs. Main Responsibilities:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant , your key duties will include:
• Offering personalised support to a primary student with special educational needs, ensuring they can fully engage in classroom activities and progress in their learning.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow and implement an individualised education plan (IEP) that meets the specific needs of the child.
• Helping to manage and deescalate challenging behaviours , using calm and reflective strategies to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
• Assisting with personal care where necessary, providing additional support for the pupil throughout the day.
• Creating a structured and nurturing environment to help the child thrive, ensuring consistency and emotional security.
Ideal Candidate:
• Proven experience working with children with special educational needs , particularly in a 1:1 setting.
• A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to deescalate situations calmly and thoughtfully.
• Willingness to provide personal care when required.
• Strong teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to working with teachers, support staff, and parents to meet the needs of the pupil.
