Are you a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children on a 1:1 basis? A primary school in Sheldon is seeking an enthusiastic teaching assistant to provide focused support to a student with special educational needs. This long-term, ongoing role offers the chance to make a real difference while ensuring stability for both you and the child. Please note this is not a permanent position, however it will continue until the end of the academic year.

Responsibilities:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant , your responsibilities will include:
• Providing individualised support to a primary student with special educational needs, helping them engage with their learning and reach their potential.
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow a tailored Individual Education Plan (IEP) designed to meet the child’s specific needs.
• Deescalating challenging behaviour and maintaining a calm, nurturing environment for the student.
• Assisting with personal care where necessary, ensuring the child is comfortable and supported throughout the school day.
• Creating a consistent and nurturing atmosphere that promotes emotional and academic growth .
Ideal Candidate:
• Previous experience working with children with special educational needs , especially in a 1:1 setting.
• A calm and patient approach with the ability to effectively deescalate situations and provide emotional support.
• Willingness to assist with personal care when required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff and parents in supporting the student’s needs.
