Description
The  UX/UI Design Specialist  is responsible for designing intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging digital experiences across our clients' websites, web applications, and internal systems. Working under the direction of Technology leadership, this position collaborates closely with the Web Engineer and cross-functional stakeholders to transform business requirements into user-centered digital solutions that support prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, and administrative operations. This position supports the complete user experience lifecycle, including user research, workflow analysis, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, interface design, usability testing, design documentation, and developer handoff. The UX/UI Design Specialist ensures digital experiences are visually consistent, accessible, responsive, and aligned with institutional branding while helping improve usability across the University's technology ecosystem. The ideal candidate combines exceptional visual design skills with strong UX methodology, product thinking, and the ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers throughout the development lifecycle. Responsibilities: Design intuitive, user-centered experiences for web applications, enterprise systems, and digital products. Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, workflow analysis, and usability testing to identify opportunities for improving user experience. Translate business requirements into user flows, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity interface designs. Design responsive, accessible, and visually engaging user interfaces that align with Stanbridge University branding and accessibility standards. Create interactive prototypes to validate concepts and gather stakeholder feedback prior to development. Develop clear design specifications, annotations, and documentation for developer handoff. Collaborate closely with the Web Engineer to ensure designs are technically feasible and implemented with design fidelity. Participate in Agile planning sessions, sprint reviews, backlog refinement, and project discussions as requested. Review completed development work and provide feedback to ensure quality, usability, accessibility, and consistency. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the University's design system, UI component library, and visual standards. Analyze user feedback, usability findings, and product analytics to recommend continuous improvements. Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to ensure consistency across institutional digital assets and branding. Stay current with emerging UX/UI trends, accessibility standards, AI-assisted design tools, and industry best practices. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Visual Communication, Computer Science, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered. Five (5) years of professional UX/UI design experience designing web applications, enterprise software, SaaS platforms, or complex digital products. Demonstrated expertise in user-centered design methodologies, interaction design, visual design, and responsive web design. Advanced proficiency with  Figma  for interface design, prototyping, and component management. Strong portfolio demonstrating the complete UX process, including research, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity UI design, and production-ready deliverables. Experience collaborating directly with software engineers throughout the software development lifecycle. Experience creating and maintaining design systems and reusable UI component libraries. Working knowledge of responsive web design principles and accessibility standards (WCAG). Strong written, verbal, organizational, and presentation skills.
