At phData, the Product Engineering team develops a suite of tools, known as the Toolkit , to automate and simplify essential data engineering and AI/ML engineering tasks. We focus on producing high-quality, reliable, and effective tools. Our tools are used both internally by our own engineers and externally by our clients.
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our India Product Engineering team members and Platform Operations, driving the execution of delivery goals, developing tools and automation under the phData Toolkit, and ensuring operational excellence across AWS, GCP, Azure, and Snowflake. This role requires hands-on technical leadership through development, code reviews, and user support for our products, while collaborating closely with US leadership and partnering with the IT team to achieve security and compliance objectives. The Engineering Manager will play a critical role in building and retaining a high-performing team in India, balancing technical depth, people leadership, and compliance responsibilities in support of Information Security and compliance audits.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Oversight and Hands-on Leadership: Oversee delivery and provide technical guidance to the product engineering team while collaborating with US leadership on roadmap and priorities, occasionally contributing hands-on to drive execution.
Cloud and data platform oversight and leadership (AWS, GCP, Azure, Snowflake) : Lead architecture, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, access management, approvals, and cost optimization across multi-cloud and Snowflake environments. Oversee RBAC on Snowflake and other internal environments, define policies, and build and maintain internal infrastructure. Provide advice and best practices to teams building internal cloud infrastructure as well as customer environments.
IT collaboration on processes and access : Collaborate closely with the IT team on access control, cloud environment changes, and access approval workflows, provisioning / deprovisioning guardrails. Assist with customer security questionnaires, co-author and maintain platform and security policies/ standards, and participate in periodic infrastructure reviews, patching, and vulnerability management. Ensure that all processes and changes align with the organization's information security requirements.
Security and Compliance : Ensure security and compliance by following standards, improving security posture, and managing vulnerabilities, access, and privacy according to Information Security policies and SOC 2 controls.
