Job Summary The Technical Document Specialist is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation related to automotive systems, components, and processes. This role involves working closely with engineering, product development, and service teams to translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documents. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain service manuals, repair and maintenance guides, owner’s manuals, technical bulletins, and standard operating procedures Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to gather and verify technical information Convert engineering specifications into clear and structured documentation Ensure all documents comply with industry standards and company guidelines Update documentation based on product changes, feedback, or regulatory requirements Manage document version control and maintain documentation systems Use tools such as Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Office, and CAD viewers Support training teams by preparing instructional and reference materials Perform quality checks to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency Required Skills and Competencies Strong technical writing and editing skills Good understanding of automotive systems including mechanical and electrical components Ability to simplify complex technical concepts High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Familiarity with documentation standards such as ISO and SAE Proficiency in documentation tools and content management systems Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field Two to five years of experience in technical documentation, preferably in the automotive industry Experience working with engineering or manufacturing teams
