ABOUT GLADE.AI http://Glade.ai
Glade.ai http://Glade.ai is building the next generation of AI-driven automation to help service businesses operate smarter, faster, and more efficiently. Our platform automates workflows, streamlines processes, and enables teams to scale without friction — empowering industries like legal, insurance, and professional services to focus on what matters most: delivering value to their clients.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re looking for a seasoned Staff Software Engineer to serve as a technical leader and mentor for our growing product engineering team. This is a rare opportunity to shape the architecture, engineering culture, and product direction of a rapidly scaling company from the ground up.
You’ll lead a team of software engineers, driving innovation and ensuring the team delivers high-impact, scalable, and elegant solutions.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Partner with Product, Design, another other stakeholders to understand customer needs and design the right solutions for them.
- Lead the design and implementation of major product and platform changes across Glade’s software stack.
- Continually raise the bar for the engineering organization by providing technical oversight and mentorship, building tooling, and improving engineering processes.
- Operate fluently across the full product lifecycle from design and implementation to production.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time in leadership or staff/principal roles.
- Have a strong understanding of engineering principles, industry best practices, and emerging technologies with our technology stack: TypeScript, React, Node.js, PostgreSQL
- Have meaningful experience with building (and rebuilding) production systems to deliver new product capabilities and to handle increasing scale.
- Have built or prototyped LLM-powered workflows using inference providers like OpenAI
- Care deeply about the end user experience and take pride in building products to solve customer needs.
- Have a humble attitude, an eagerness to help your colleagues, and a desire to do whatever it takes to make the team succeed.
- Own problems end-to-end, and are willing to pick up whatever knowledge you're missing to get the job done.
HOW TO STAND OUT IN THIS INTERVIEW APPLICATION PROCESS:
Put yourself in our shoes. We get over 300+ applicants / week. We want to spend time with the right candidates. During your interview process you will meet at least 3 other engineers and managers within Glade. So putting your best foot forward by building a project related to Glade—a feature, workflow, prototype, or application that shows Glade solving a real legal workflow—is the fastest way to being the right candidate.
You are the right candidate if you:
- Solve a real or plausible problem for law firms, legal teams, or their clients.
- Demonstrate strong product judgment. We want to understand why you built what you built, the tradeoffs you considered, and how you decided what was worth prioritizing.
- Show thoughtful engineering. We care about architecture, state management, data modeling, edge cases, and how your solution could evolve as part of a production product.
- Present your work professionally. Please host it, share a repository, or provide a deployed link so we can evaluate not only the functionality, but also how you package, communicate, and ship your work.
You are welcome to use AI tools throughout the process—in fact, we expect great engineers to leverage them effectively. However, the final result should not feel like a generic AI-generated demo. It should reflect your taste, judgment, and ability to turn an ambiguous problem into a useful product.
