Description
Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) is a global quantitative and systematic investment manager, operating in all liquid asset classes across the world. We are a technology- and data-driven group implementing a scientific approach to investing. Combining data, research, technology, and trading expertise has shaped our collaborative mindset, which enables us to solve the most complex challenges. QRT’s culture of innovation continuously drives our ambition to deliver high-quality returns for our investors. You will join the Core Trading Platform team, which is responsible for the design and operation of QRT’s global electronic trading infrastructure. This team builds and maintains the ultra-low latency systems that underpin real-time trading, managing performance-critical workflows across global markets. You will work closely with developers, traders, and operations to optimise system behaviour, reduce latency, and ensure platform reliability at scale. Build. Break. Investigate. Optimize. Repeat. We're looking for engineers who love understanding how systems really work. Tinkerers. Optimizers. Troubleshooters. Performance sleuths. People who are just as comfortable diving into Linux internals and packet captures as they are writing software to eliminate operational toil. This isn't a traditional support role. You'll operate at the intersection of software engineering, production operations and business workflows, helping keep a fast-moving trading platform running reliably while continuously making it better.   What you'll do: Own production Take responsibility for the health, stability and performance of critical trading systems. When things break, you're one of the people everyone wants in the room. When things don't break, it's often because of something you built. Investigate the unexplained Chase down complex incidents that span applications, infrastructure, networks and market connectivity. Become a technical forensic investigator, uncovering root causes that aren't immediately obvious and turning every incident into a learning opportunity. Eliminate toil If you have to do something twice, you'll probably automate it. Build tools, workflows and self-service capabilities that make systems easier to operate and engineers more productive. Obsess over reliability Design better monitoring, observability and alerting. Measure what matters. Reduce noise. Increase signal. Help us understand our systems before they fail rather than after they fail Understand the business Our systems exist to support trading. You'll learn how orders move through the platform, how market data flows, how trading desks operate and why reliability matters to investment performance. Optimize everything Latency. Efficiency. Deployments. Troubleshooting workflows. Feedback loops. Engineering productivity. Nothing is ever "good enough." What we're looking for You might be a good fit if you: Enjoy taking things apart to understand how they work Automatically start troubleshooting when something looks wrong Find repetitive work deeply irritating and automate it away Get satisfaction from building reliable systems Prefer solving root causes instead of treating symptoms Love learning new technologies and diving into unfamiliar systems Can communicate clearly during high-pressure production events We're more interested in how you think than the exact technologies you've used, but you'll likely have: Strong software engineering skills in Python, C++, or another modern programming language Solid Linux systems knowledge Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP and multicast Experience troubleshooting distributed systems Familiarity with observability, monitoring and automation tooling A passion for engineering robust, scalable and operable systems Previous experience in finance or tra
