What You’ll Do As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll architect and build the core services that power Streamline, our workflow orchestration platform. The Workflow Orchestration team owns the heart of the platform-the engine that executes, schedules, and reliably coordinates complex, long-running business processes at scale. You'll work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and data teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance services that meet the needs of our customers. You'll also leverage modern AI-assisted development tools-such as Cursor, Claude, and other cutting-edge AI coding assistants-to accelerate delivery, raise code quality, and drive innovation. - Design and develop high-performance, scalable microservices in Java that form the foundation of the Streamline platform - Build and operate the workflow orchestration engine using Temporal to execute reliable, durable, long-running processes - Design fault-tolerant, distributed systems that guarantee correctness and recoverability across complex multi-step workflows - Explore and implement AI-based solutions to make orchestration smarter-automating routing, decisioning, and self-healing workflows - Integrate AI agents into the platform to support autonomous and semi-autonomous workflow execution and optimization - Architect solutions that meet strict compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI DSS) - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system specifications and technical requirements - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making processes - Implement robust error handling, observability, and automated recovery mechanisms - Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality standards How You’ll Succeed - Deliver with a “Wow the Customer” mindset - creating real value for users and stakeholders - Stay hungry - seek out opportunities, feedback, and ways to improve - Diagnose challenges and deliver thoughtful, practical solutions - Leverage AI, tools, and collaboration to supercharge your work - Thrive on the edge - embrace change, ambiguity, and the pace of a high-growth environment - Act as a mentor and guide for junior engineers, fostering growth and best practices What We’re Looking For - Strong expertise in Java and Spring frameworks - Strong experience with Temporal (or comparable workflo
