The Team You will join the ActiveSG team, where your impact reaches hundreds of thousands of Singaporeans who use our platform to book sports facilities, register for programs, and engage with Singapore's sports ecosystem. Our goal is to make sports accessible, convenient, and engaging for all Singaporeans - from weekend warriors to aspiring athletes. ActiveSG is the digital gateway to Singapore's national sports initiative. You'll be building and maintaining the platform that connects citizens to sports facilities, programs, and communities across the island. Your work directly impacts public health, community building, and Singapore's vision of an active nation. You'll tackle challenges of scale, real-time booking systems, payment processing, and creating delightful user experiences that encourage more Singaporeans to stay active. ActiveSG currently handles millions of facility bookings, programme participation, and pool/gym usages annually across Singapore’s sports complexes and facilities. The platform encompasses user-facing features and core internal management systems to provide a seamless experience for our users while enabling data-driven insights and efficient operations for SportSG. About the Role We're looking for a thoughtful and driven Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about making sports accessible to all Singaporeans. You’ll be responsible for building and enhancing the ActiveSG platform, solving complex technical challenges around efficient allocation/utilisation of facilities, balloting/booking/accounting systems, and user/facility management. This role is best suited for someone who excels in ambiguous problem spaces, values user experience and prototyping, and can work autonomously while building scalable, high-traffic applications. Key Responsibilities You will work with a competent cross functional team to perform the following Design, develop, and deploy scalable production-ready software across the stack - from frontend components to backend services and infrastructure. Write maintainable, readable, and performant code while participating in code reviews to ensure engineering quality. Work closely with PMs, designers, and officers on the ground to identify opportunities, scope features, test hypotheses, and ship solutions that solve real pain points. Write and review engineering documentation such as RFCs and technical specifications to improve knowledge sharing. Set up robust monitoring, alerting, and testing practices to ensure our systems are production-ready and reliable. Own projects end-to-end, from discovery and prototyping to deployment and iteration. Contribute to the broader culture of continuous improvement across OGP. Preferred Skills and Qualifications At least 5 years’ experience in a software engineering role. Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and backend development ( Next.js , Node.js or similar). Experience designing REST APIs and working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases. Excellent communication skills, especially in understanding and translating problems and requirements into software. Strong product thinking and empathy for users - especially non-technical ones.
