As a Senior Server Engineer, you will play a foundational role in designing and building the backend services, APIs, event processing systems, and integrations that power our digital experiences and enable analytics, lifecycle engagement, and downstream data systems. This role goes beyond feature delivery. You will help architect scalable backend services, event-driven workflows, and platform capabilities.   This role works closely with Product Managers, Analytics, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and other engineering teams and, in addition to hands-on development. This role requires deep backend engineering expertise combined with systems thinking, mentoring experience, architectural discipline, and a strong appreciation for scalability, reliability, observability, and maintainability.   What You'll Do: Lead backend development using Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate, Dropwizard) and related technologies Design and build scalable microservices supporting high-volume, highly available digital platforms Design, implement, and evolve RESTful APIs and service-to-service communication patterns Design and implement event-driven architectures (Kafka, asynchronous messaging) Design and maintain resilient integrations with internal and third-party systems (retry handling, idempotency, monitoring, operational support) Own and evolve backend event contracts, payload schemas, and service integrations, partnering with Product, Analytics, and Data Engineering to ensure downstream systems (CRM, lifecycle, reporting, analytics) receive reliable, well-structured data Drive API governance, service contracts, versioning strategies, and integration standards across the platform Support BAU while identifying opportunities to reduce technical debt, simplify legacy processes, and modernize the platform through service consolidation and architectural improvements Ensure high-performance, secure, observable, and maintainable services through best practices, automated testing, CI/CD, and production monitoring Lead production incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of long-term preventative solutions Provide technical leadership through design reviews, pair programming, code reviews, and mentorship by contributing to hiring, onboarding, and career development of engineers What You'll Bring: 8+ years of professional software development experience with deep backend engineering expertise Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience Advanced proficiency in Java using Spring Boot, Hibernate, Dropwizard, or similar enterprise frameworks Proven track record designing distributed systems and microservice architectures Demonstrated expertise in RESTful APIs and backend integration patterns Deep understanding of event-driven architectures and message brokers such as Kafka Solid working knowledge of relational databases including Postgres and Oracle Familiarity with distributed caching technologies such as Redis is considered an asset Hands-on background with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and DevOps practices Strong understanding of observability, including logging, monitoring, metrics, tracing, and production diagnostics Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions and drive architectural decisions across multiple teams Track record of mentoring and coac
