Description
ABOUT 1X We’re building humanoid robots that work in home - doing the chores, handling the tasks, and giving people their time back. Simple, but it’s not. To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing - at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you’re inspired by this, you’ll thrive here. We’ve been at this since 2014 and we’re at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the hard work is in front of us. NEO is our flagship - a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We’re not demoing it - we’re shipping it. We’re excited to meet you, if this excites you. If you’ve spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We’re scaling, we’re hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time - safely creating abundance for all. ABOUT THE TEAM The Fleet Operations team is responsible for keeping our robotic fleet healthy, reliable, and ready for deployment. As robots operate in customer homes and real-world environments, the team diagnoses failures, executes repairs, develops service strategies, and creates the operational foundation required to support a rapidly growing fleet at scale. YOUR CHARTER As Senior Manager, Robot Services, you will build and lead the Maintenance and Repair organization responsible for diagnosing, repairing, validating, and returning robots to service. You will establish the systems, workflows, and team required to support a growing fleet while serving as a critical feedback loop between Fleet Operations, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality. Your work will directly impact robot reliability, fleet uptime, and the long-term scalability of 1X's service operations. KEY OUTCOMES - Build and scale a high-performing Robot Services organization capable of supporting fleet growth from prototype volumes to production-scale operations. - Establish repair, refurbishment, and return-to-service processes that improve fleet uptime, repair turnaround time, and operational efficiency. - Develop structured failure analysis and root cause investigation processes that drive measurable improvements in robot reliability. - Hire, develop, and lead a team of technicians and engineers while creating clear organizational structure, ownership, and career progression. - Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Reliability teams to translate service learnings into product and process improvements. KEY COMPETENCIES - Proven leader capable of building technical teams and operational functions from the ground up. - Deep understanding of electromechanical systems, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair methodologies. - Strong operational mindset with the ability to create scalable processes, metrics, and workflows. - Hands-on technical capability and willingness to engage directly with complex system failures when needed. - Exceptional cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to influence engineering and operational decisions through data and technical insight. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another technical discipline. - 8+ years of experience leading maintenance, repair, service engineering, sustaining engineering, or related technical operations functions. - Experience managing both technicians and engineers within a manufacturing, robotics, automotive, aerospace, or similarly complex hardware environment. - Demonstrated success building and improving operational processes, repair workflows, or maintenance organizations. - Strong root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving capabilities.
