A BOUT THE ROLE
Techno is seeking an experienced Senior Document Controls Specialist to support a large-scale transportation and infrastructure program in the New York City area. This position will play a critical role in maintaining document control processes across complex capital improvement and construction activities involving multiple stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and public-sector partners. The ideal candidate is highly organized, process-driven, and experienced managing technical documentation within fast-paced infrastructure environments.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead document control activities for major infrastructure and transportation projects throughout all phases of design and construction.
Maintain, organize, and track project documentation including drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, RFIs, correspondence, reports, and technical records.
Manage document workflows, revision control, transmittals, and distribution processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with project procedures.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, consultants, contractors, and client representatives to support timely document processing and approvals.
Ensure all project documentation is properly archived, indexed, and maintained within electronic document management systems.
Monitor document status, deadlines, and deliverables while identifying and resolving discrepancies or missing documentation.
Generate reports related to document tracking, turnover status, and project controls metrics.
Support audits, compliance reviews, and records retention requirements in accordance with agency and project standards.
Assist in improving document control procedures, workflows, and reporting efficiencies across the project team.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior document controls staff when required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
7+ years of document controls experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, transportation, construction, or engineering projects.
Prior experience working within public-sector or transportation agency environments strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of document lifecycle management, revision control, and records management best practices.
Experience using document management platforms such as SharePoint, Procore, e-Builder, Aconex, ProjectWise, or similar systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within deadline-driven project environments.
Familiarity with construction documentation, technical drawings, contract documentation, and project controls processes preferred.
