Description
The Role
We're looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our current infrastructure team of 4 engineers. You'll take ownership of how we build, deploy, and operate our cloud platform. We’re actively investing in modernization: migrating to a fully cloud-native architecture, improving compliance posture, and moving toward platform self-service for our development teams.
Our client, Miaplaza, is a US-based company with team members across multiple countries and cultures. We value transparent communication and expect everyone to collaborate respectfully and effectively across differences.
We have legacy systems (self-hosted, on-prem, limited scalability etc.) but we are transitioning to modern architectures, hosted services and cloud-native. The split between legacy and new work varies by period, but you should be comfortable working across both, bringing modern practices to new systems while pragmatically maintaining and migrating older ones.
A core goal of the modernization effort is to consolidate and shrink the stack: replacing legacy tooling with modern equivalents, adopting managed services where they make sense, and reducing the operational surface the team has to maintain. Every migration decision is measured against whether it lowers the daily burden on the team.
What You'll Work On:
Cloud Infrastructure & IaC
Design, build, and maintain infrastructure on GCP (primary) and AWS (supplementary) using Terraform
Drive the ongoing cloud migration - moving on-premise workloads to GKE with a container-centric approach, and evaluating managed/SaaS alternatives where they make sense over self-hosted
CI/CD & GitOps
Maintain GitLab CI/CD pipelines and operate GitOps workflows - FluxCD for infrastructure delivery, ArgoCD for application deployments
Work within a bi-weekly release cadence with a published schedule. Our CI pipeline is an evolving process: continuously improving validation, security scanning, and automation
Observability & Reliability
Operate and improve our observability stack; build alerting, dashboards, and runbooks
Participate in blameless postmortems - we focus on learning, not fingerpointing
Contribute to disaster recovery planning and backup validation
Security & Compliance
Maintain and evolve security controls, scanning tooling, and compliance posture
Platform Engineering
Move toward developer self-service and contribute to our reusable Terraform module library
Help build out staging and development environments from the existing production blueprint
Contribute to cost optimization - being mindful of spending across GKE, storage, and self-hosted tooling
Databases & Data Stores
Operate PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and RabbitMQ
Networking
Work with service mesh, load balancing, CDN/WAF, VPC architecture, and DNS management
Requirments:
5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering
Solid Terraform experience - you've written modules, managed state, and dealt with real-world drift and refactoring
Production experience with Kubernetes (GKE preferred, EKS/AKS experience transfers well)
Senior-level GCP knowledge - IAM, networking, KMS, GKE, CloudSQL, Secret Manager. This is our primary cloud, and you have deep expertise here.
Experience with CI/CD pipeline design and operations (GitLab CI preferred) and GitOps (FluxCD or ArgoCD)
Bash for automation and scripting
Understanding of networking and Linux administration
Familiarity with observability concepts - metrics, logs, traces, and how they fit together
Proficiency in English (written and spoken) - English is our working language across all teams and time zones
Comfortable working in a globally distributed, multicultural team
Nice to Have:
AWS experience - we use AWS for select services; cross-cloud experience helps
Experience operating self-hosted observability stacks (P
