As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will collaborate with leaders in technology, data, and energy to build solutions and tools for handling the highly complex problems posed by the evolving power grid. You will also work directly on projects to integrate systems and serve energy data to customers. We are curious people who take pride in our work, value high-quality communication, and strive to improve continuously.   Position Details   Salary range: Net 17.000 - 20.000 RON/month Location: Bucharest, Romania Full-time Hybrid - Will be required to work in the office 2-3 days a week Reporting to: Engineering Manager Primary Responsibilities   Lead the design and delivery of core Yes AI infrastructure: MCP server, natural language integration layer, and the Semantic Context Layer that encodes Yes Energy's power market expertise Provide architectural guidance on how Yes Energy data (Oracle, Snowflake) is structured and exposed to AI agents and LLM-powered applications Work closely with data engineering, operations, and infrastructure to build services that support real-time, AI-driven customer workflows Engage actively in all product life cycle phases, emphasizing design and strategic planning. Mentor Backend Engineer IIs and elevate the technical bar of the team Drive technical discussions and partner with engineering leadership on design and planning decisions Engage directly with cross-functional stakeholders — product, domain experts, and occasionally customers — to shape the right solutions Minimum Qualifications   Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field 7+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership Deep expertise in Java; solid Python skills Working knowledge of relational database management systems such as SQL Server. Extensive experience developing for and working in cloud environments, Snowflake preferred Extensive experience designing, building, and consuming REST APIs. Familiarity with data integration and ETL tools. Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders Self-directed and comfortable supporting the needs of multiple teams, systems, and products. Key Competencies / Preferred Qualifications   System Design & Maintenance: Applies architectural thinking to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable software systems, expertly evaluating trade-offs and aligning technical choices with business goals Technical Execution: Delivers exceptionally high-quality code in production APIs or data pipelines while adhering to rigorous testing frameworks and test-driven development (TDD) Energy Industry & Customer Understanding: Background in data-intensive environments (e.g., equities/commodities trading) or a strong desire to learn the wholesale electric power industry Effective Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable bridging technical gaps and explaining
