Description
Are you a natural host — someone who lights up when meeting new people, remembers names, and genuinely wants to understand who our clients are? Can you stay warm and composed even when reception gets busy and a queue starts to form? Do you take pride in keeping a space looking and feeling welcoming? If yes, read on! ABOUT CIC CIC builds and connects thriving innovation communities around the world. Founded in 1999 in Cambridge, MA, we were one of the first companies to offer flexible office space and coworking. We manage a global network of innovation-focused workspace, laboratories, and event space across North America, Europe, and Asia, and continue to expand globally. ABOUT CIC ROTTERDAM Opened in 2016, CIC Rotterdam sits inside the landmark Groot Handelsgebouw, just steps from Rotterdam Central Station. The campus is an active part of the city’s innovation landscape and one of the Leading Start-up hub in Europe — home to entrepreneurs, researchers, and organizations building the future of industry, sustainability, and urban life. It’s a place where work happens across borders, disciplines, and generations. Learn more about us here. ABOUT YOU CIC is looking for a true host — ideally, someone with experience as a receptionist, concierge, or front desk associate who thrives on connecting with people in a fast-paced environment. Be that great first impression for our many guests and clients. Comfortable flying solo as working as part of a team. More specifically, you will possess the following characteristics: A natural connector — personable, curious about people, and quick to build rapport with guests and clients. Calm and composed under pressure, especially when reception gets busy or a queue builds up. Detail oriented and organized, with a genuine eye for keeping the reception area tidy, presentable, and welcoming. Self-motivated and proactive in taking ownership and responsibility for tasks and leading them to completion. A team player with the capacity to foster and maintain positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, building management and vendors — equally comfortable working solo at the desk. Comfortable working with everyone, treating everyone equally. Ideas driven, with an interest in taking on administrative projects beyond reception, such as booking meeting rooms for Events or scheduling meetings for Sales. A professional communicator, both verbally and in writing. Able to reliably and conveniently commute to our Rotterdam office to ensure smooth collaboration. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORK This position will be the welcoming first face and first impression for CIC’s many members, guests, and vendors. You will join our Rotterdam campus, reporting to the Manager Operations, as part of an 11-person Community Team — building real connections with the people who walk through our doors. Some work will be independent, including holding down reception solo at times, while other work will require collaboration with other members of the CIC staff. Potential responsibilities will include: Overseeing the quality of the front desk experience while demonstrating a proactive desire to assist others and provide excellent, hospitality-driven service. Welcoming guests and providing them with a relaxed and efficient transition to their host. Building genuine connections with guests and clients — in person, on the phone, and via email — taking the time to understand who they are and what they need. Staying calm, gracious, and in control when reception gets busy or a queue forms, keeping the CIC experience smooth for everyone waiting. Being a face of CIC and providing an exceptional first experience for new clients (assist with key distribution, take a photo of new employees, answer questions, etc.) Taking ownership of the reception area’s look and feel — keeping it tidy and presentable, and always looking for ways to make it more welcoming. Comfortable holding the reception desk solo at times, while a
