We are hiring a Staff Accountant for a US-based real estate investment and property management group. You will own the general ledger for a set of rental properties held across several separate legal entities, and you will be the person who closes them, reconciles them, and reports on them every month. This is not a role where the work is checked twice before it counts. The property managers see the buildings, the asset managers see the returns, and the accounting picture comes from you. When a CAM reconciliation does not tie or an invoice is coded to the wrong entity, you are the one who catches it, and the month-end numbers go out on the strength of your work. That takes a different level of trust than a general accounting seat, which is why we screen carefully for it. Key Responsibilities General Ledger and Month-End Close Prepare journal entries across the portfolio, including accruals, amortization, and allocations between properties and entities Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including operating and escrow bank accounts, and resolve differences rather than carrying them forward Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close calendar across several properties and legal entities at once Property and Lease Accounting Record rental income and raise tenant billings in line with each lease Prepare and reconcile CAM and other tenant recoveries, including the year-end true-up Track prepaid expenses, security deposits, and escrow balances Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records at property level Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Monitor rent collections and accounts receivable ageing across the portfolio Prepare delinquency reporting and support follow-up with the property managers Review and process property-related invoices, checking the coding, the period, and the entity before anything is posted Financial Reporting and Analysis Prepare property-level financial statements Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis and explain what moved and why, not just by how much Support annual budget preparation and reforecasting Working With The Wider Team Work directly with property managers, asset managers, and external auditors Carry several properties and entities at the same time in a high-volume, deadline-driven month-end cycle Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Two to five years of accounting experience Working knowledge of property accounting principles Hands-on experience with Yardi Voyager or a comparable property accounting platform such as MRI, RealPage, AppFolio, or Entrata Experience booking equity entries and intercompany transactions Understanding of entity hierarchies and how they are treated in the accounts across real estate ownership structures Comfortable with fixed asset accounting and depreciation methodologies Advanced Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP, and financial modeling Strong analytical skills and real attention to detail Clear written and spoken English Preferred Qualifications Real estate or property management industry experience Direct hands-on experience preparing CAM reconciliations and tenant recovery true-ups Experience supporting a portfolio of multiple entities under one ownership group Prior experience working directly with US or other Western clients in a remote role CPA or an equivalent professional qualification (not required for this role) Tools and Software Yardi Voyager (primary) or a comparable property accounting platform Microsoft Excel, at an advanced level Microsoft Teams and OneDrive Hubstaff time tracking, which is standard on every Remote Raven placement What Makes You a Great Fit You reconcile to zero.
