Description
Blend is a diverse team of problem solvers who believe that the world’s financial resources should be more accessible. Our cloud banking platform is used by Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, and over 330 other financial services firms to acquire more customers, increase productivity, and deliver end-to-end digital experiences. Our software enables our customers to process an average of more than $5 billion in loans per day, making it possible for consumers to reach their financial goals faster and lead better lives. Come do work that matters.
Note: This role's initial assignment is serving as the dedicated product owner for a contracted enterprise client build. This will allow the Team Member to learn the product deeply. Scope of that assignment (partial vs. full-time) is subject to the final Statement of Work.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Our fastest-growing home lending product line delivers streamlined digital origination, taking borrowers from application to a qualified, rate-locked loan in a single digital flow. Deployments range from out-of-the-box to highly customized builds for major banks and credit unions.
Every lender runs origination a little differently, and our platform is built to flex to that. We need a Product Architect to step in and advise clients on what's standard, what's configurable, what's custom, and what we won't build, and to turn that guidance into a repeatable discovery process the whole go-to-market team can run. This is a forward-deployed role — you work where the client is, embedded in their process, backed by our engineering and product teams. What you learn in daily client conversations should shape how we package and price the product as our product lines converge onto a single platform.
INITIAL ASSIGNMENT: DEDICATED PRODUCT OWNER, ENTERPRISE CLIENT BUILD
We are contracting with a major enterprise client for a highly customized build on this product line, and the contract calls for a dedicated product owner. The first assignment for this role is owning that build: gathering and iterating requirements directly with the client, running the backlog with our globally distributed engineering team, and working day to day with the product team.
Owning a complex build end-to-end is the fastest way to build deep product knowledge — the configuration model, the integration points, where custom work gets expensive — and that knowledge is exactly what the advisory side of this role requires.
MISSION
Own the technical product relationship with clients on this product line, from first pre-sales conversation through post-implementation. Advise clients on solution design during discovery and before contract signature, translate their needs into buildable requirements during delivery, and bring what you learn back into product strategy, packaging, and pricing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as the dedicated product owner for a contracted custom client build, owning requirements, backlog, and sprint execution with our globally distributed engineering team
Advise prospects through pre-sales discovery, guiding component selection and setting clear expectations on what's standard, what's custom, and what we won't build
Make discovery repeatable by building the discovery questions, scoping method, and gap-analysis template that account executives, sales engineers, and deployment leads can run themselves on standard deals
Support pre-sales on scoping, technical feasibility, solution design, and proposals for both standard and high-touch deployments
Hand structured, buildable requirements to product owners for execution, with clear ownership so requirements are owned once
Stay engaged after go-live on stabilization, adoption, and expansion opportunities
Bring client signal into packaging and pricing decisions as we move toward a base-product-plus-add-ons model and converge our home lending product lines onto a single platform
