Description
We’re a team of friends bound together by a mission to preserve our planet for future generations through innovative energy solutions and modern infrastructure. Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation.   Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. We’re on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.   Location & Team Gatherings   Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016.  We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.   We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture. This position will report to the Head of Datacenters and Fuels. This pivotal role will involve supporting the project team by reviewing, validating, and ensuring the technical integrity of designs and execution plans provided by our external EPC firms. The scope includes new natural gas pipelines and power plants based on reciprocating engines and gas turbines. This role will serve in a technical Owner's Engineer capacity, supporting project development, contracting, design review, and execution through commissioning and startup.   Team Overview This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect's mission to accelerate the clean energy transition by developing and delivering complex, high-performance infrastructure projects. The Datacenter and Fuels team is composed of multidisciplinary engineers and project leaders responsible for projects from early-stage concept through construction and operations. Joining this team offers the opportunity to shape large-scale, technically sophisticated facilities while collaborating with experienced professionals across engineering, construction, operations, and commercial functions.   What You’ll Do Lead technical activities for the design, engineering, and construction of power plants utilizing natural gas reciprocating engines and/or gas turbines. Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for electrical systems associated with power generation facilities, including generator electrical interfaces, medium- and high-voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, motor control, grounding, protective relaying, lighting, raceway, and plant auxiliary systems. Set and document the electrical basis of design, develop the electrical scope of work, and define key system requirements and performance criteria. Guide and review technical deliverables from external contractors; provide clear engineering inputs and participate in design, review, and coordination sessions. Collaborate with other technical disciplines (mechanical, civil, controls, piping, and interconnection teams) to ensure project integration and completeness.
