Description
Company Overview Red 6 is an innovative Augmented Reality (AR) technology startup leading the way in synthetic air combat training. Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments. Job Summary As a Principal Electrical Engineer at Red 6, will lead the electrical development of next-generation augmented reality systems. You will oversee all aspects of the electrical hardware development lifecycle from requirements to design, test, and integration. You will be deeply involved in the development of new electrical system architectures. This will necessitate an ability to derive electrical subsystem requirements from higher-level system requirements. Key Responsibilities - Responsible for architecting, designing, developing, modifying, evaluating, and integrating electronic equipment, electronic parts, components, and integrated circuitry for high performance and real time hardware systems. - Oversees all aspects of the electrical hardware development lifecycle from requirements to design, test, integration and manufacturing. - Evaluates various design approaches and uses analytic, simulation and prototyping methods to substantiate electrical design solutions. - Produces design documentation and provides engineering support to system design reviews, manufacturing, systems integration, testing and verification. - Contributes to proposals and estimates of budget and schedule to meet program objectives. - Tasks and mentors other members of the team, offering expert technical guidance to the entire electrical team. - Establishes and evolves best practices for the Electrical Engineering group. Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field. - Typically 12+ years of experience developing complex electrical systems for aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability applications (or equivalent combination of education and experience). - 5+ years of experience leading electrical architecture development for complex airborne or mission-critical systems. - Demonstrated expertise in subsystem electrical architecture, electrical mission systems integration, and real-time embedded hardware. - Experience defining electrical interfaces, power architectures, and electrical system integration strategies. - Experience designing and integrating electrical systems compliant with military environmental and safety standards such as MIL-STD-461 (EMI/EMC) and MIL-STD-810 (Environments). - Experience leading technical trade studies, architecture reviews, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve complex engineering challenges. - Familiarity with standard lab equipment – oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectrum analyzers. - Ability to plan and status electrical design and development efforts to meet cost and schedule constraints. - Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills. - Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance. Must be a US Citizen. Preferred Qualifications - Advanced degree, Master’s or PhD, in Electrical Engineering. - Experience with FPGAs, SoCs, firmware, and embedded software development. - Experience with PCBA design and simulation software, such as Altium. - Experience with high-speed memory such as DDR3/DDR4 and high-speed digital interfaces such as PCIe 3.0/4.0, DisplayPort, USB 3.0, and Ethernet. - Working knowledge of aircraft communication protocols including Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, CAN, or similar deterministic communication architectures. - Thorough understanding of the systems development lifecycle in accordance with ISO/IEEE recommendations and standards such as ISO/IEEE 15288. Estimated Base Salary Range: $200,000 to $250,000 dependent on skills and experience Full-Time Employee Benefits -
