Position: Pressure Vessel Engineer Location: Kotka, Finland Start date : as soon as possible Pressure Vessel Engineer In this role, your personal attributes will be of great importance! Pressure vessel responsible person (painelaitteista vastaava henkilö in Finnish) is defined primarily under Finnish national pressure equipment legislation and related EU directives — particularly the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU) and the Finnish Pressure Equipment Act (1144/2016) (Painelaitelaki). Key responsibilities: Overall Responsibility for Safe Operation: The responsible person ensures that all pressure equipment under their control is: · Operated safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions. · Used only for its intended purpose. · Maintained and inspected according to legal and technical requirements. · Monitored for use and condition (including boilers, pressure vessels, pipelines, and other pressure-bearing components). · Periodically inspected on time. · Properly registered and all changes reported to Tukes. Additionally : · Develop and support pressure equipment plans in line with Easpring’s corporate and regional strategies. · Create and maintain inspection and maintenance plans. Ensuring periodic inspections are performed by an accredited inspection body (e.g., Tukes-approved body). · Ensure any repairs or modifications are properly documented and approved. Safety Culture & Training : · Provide proactive feedback to ensure the long-term sustainability of pressure equipment initiatives. · Support ALMA maintenance programs and coach the management, supervisors and employees. · Foster and drive a strong pressure safety culture across the organization. · Develop and deliver training programs site-specific pressure related hazards) for all employees and contractors and support a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through education and awareness campaigns. · Ensure operators and maintenance staff are properly trained and competent to handle the pressure equipment. · Ensure operating instructions are clear, available in Finnish and English, and understood by all relevant staff. Legal Compliance & Authority Liaison : coordinating all laws related to pressure vessels & pipes compliance together with our Equipment Maintenance Manager. The person must have a pressure equipment supervisor qualification and familiar with: · Pressure Equipment Act (1144/2016) · Government Decree on Pressure Equipment Safety (1549/2016) · Occupational Safety and Health Act (738/2002) · Applicable EU directives and standards (e.g. PED, ATEX if relevant). Problem Solving & Policy Development: Analyse pressure-related issues and develop solutions for how to prevent those. Leverage innovative thinking and analytical skills to adapt methods and address varying challenges. Incident and Close Call Management: Participate and oversee the investigation of Close Calls, and hazards. Validate findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively together with line organisations to find and determine the root causes. Technical Oversight & Reporting: Support/develop, update, and enforce technical procedures in compliance with local regulations and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001) to ensure full compliance with internal standards and external regulations. Must maintain up-to-date records which must be available for Tukes (the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency) or other authorities upon request.
