Description
Why join Giga The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here. The Impact : Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship. The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more. The Moment : AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening. What you’ll do  The Materials Manager for Switchboards owns the flow of materials behind our switchboard production — sheet metal and enclosures, busbars, electrical components, and assembly hardware — from BOM accuracy and demand planning through to materials staged and ready to build. You will manage materials planning and scheduling across our switchboard contract manufacturers, keep production supplied against manufacturing capacity, and manage the risk, lead time, and tariff exposure of a global switchboard supply base. This role is the connective tissue between Procurement, Production, Engineering, and our contract manufacturers. Where you’ll work  This role is based out of our Long Beach facility at 6015 Obispo Ave, Long Beach, CA 90805. You must be willing to work in the office and on the production floor full-time, outside of our bi-weekly WFH Fridays. Responsibilities Own BOM accuracy and structure for switchboard products — enclosures, busbars, electrical components, and assembly hardware — in the ERP/MRP system Translate the production schedule into materials requirements (MRP); convert demand into supplier releases and purchase requisitions Manage engineering change (ECO) impact on existing switchboard inventory and open orders Support New Product Introduction (NPI) — ensure long-lead components (sheet metal enclosures, custom busbars, specialty electrical components) are ordered early enough to hit pilot build and factory acceptance test (FAT) dates Build and maintain the master production schedule (MPS) for the switchboard line, reconciled against real contract manufacturer capacity Coordinate build schedules with sheet metal fabricators, busbar manufacturers, electrical component suppliers, and final assembly contract manufacturers Participate in S&OP/demand planning to align switchboard production plans with sales forecasts Own inventory strategy — safety stock levels, buffer stock, and build-to-order vs. build-to-stock decisions for enclosures, busbars, electrical components, and assembly hardware Manage kitting and staging so the right components are ready at switchboard build and final assembly stations Track inventory health: turns, excess & obsolete (E&O) inventory, and cycle count accuracy Manage lead times and allocation for long-lead switchboard items — custom sheet metal enclosures, specialty busbars, circuit breakers, and power distribution components Make allocation calls during component shortages, balancing customer commitments and production priorities Identify and mitigate single-source, capacity, and geopolitical risk across the switchboard supply base Coordinate materials flow and inventory visibility across switchboard contract manufacturers and Giga facilities Own tariff and trade compliance planning for switchboard components — HTS classification, Section 301/232 exposure, USMCA qualification, and country-of-origin tracking Evaluate sourcing and inventory strategies (e.g., bonded warehousing, duty drawback) to manage tariff cost impact Manage logistics and expediting decisions — air vs. ocean freight — when schedules are at risk Requirements 7+ years in materials man
