About the team and role: Dave is looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to join our Front End Infrastructure (FEI) team. As an Engineering Manager at Dave, you will play an instrumental role in leading the squad responsible for the foundational systems that every mobile engineer at Dave relies on, from CI/CD pipelines and shared libraries to mobile observability, product analytics, experimentation platform, design systems, and release tooling. You'll be responsible for fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, overseeing project delivery, and driving excellence across the entire mobile engineering organization. This role reports to the Director, DevX and Infrastructure Engineering. What you’ll do: - Balance engineering leadership and people management with hands-on technical engagement, maintaining sufficient depth in the codebase and platform architecture to guide technical strategy, influence architectural decisions, and mentor engineers. - Bring forward creative technical solutions to handle complex frontend platform challenges by collaborating with product engineering, design, marketing, and other stakeholders. - Stay close enough to the code to guide architectural decisions, review mobile platform work, and provide technical direction across React Native, iOS, Android, and our CI/CD and developer tooling stack. - Hire, lead, mentor, and motivate talented engineers and help them grow professionally. - Collaborate with business and engineering stakeholders to come up with the roadmap, vision, and purpose for the mobile platform. - Facilitate and contribute to conversations with Lead and Staff Engineers to come up with scalable mobile architecture, better engineering practices, and prioritize tech debt. - Communicate the purpose and "why" behind the current and future priorities to the squad and stakeholders. - Remove roadblocks for team members, both technical and otherwise. - Be the bridge between the squad and the rest of the engineering org and leadership by making sure that information flows both ways. - Be a spokesperson and champion for changes initiated by peers, managers, and leadership. - Co-own and measure metrics to enable data-driven decision-making around platform health and developer experience (educated prioritization of tech debt, tooling investments, and developer productivity) in collaboration with engineering stakeholders. And take the lead on solutions to improve when needed. - Work closely with peer Engineering Managers and their teams to prioritize and balance platform investments with squad-specific feature needs. - Establish processes that improve the mobile design-to-development workflow, partnering closely with design and product to ensure seamless collaboration on shared UI patterns and components. What you’ll need: - 6+ years of software development experience. - 1.5+ years of engineering management experience. - Han
