Summary/Objective Performs routine maintenance support of production equipment and machine building. Trouble shoots and repairs equipment electrical and/or mechanical malfunctions. Performs electrical, mechanical, carpentry, millwright, plumbing and pipefitting work associated with the installation of equipment. Assists in the building of new production equipment according to blueprints and schematics. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. (These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.) Responds to written work orders describing in varying detail electrical and/or mechanical problems with the production equipment. Communicates with the equipment operator and other maintenance technicians from other shifts to obtain information concerning production equipment malfunctions. Trouble shoots equipment problems to root cause and seeks to prevent equipment breakdown in the future. May need to weld parts to repair equipment.  Performs preventative maintenance on production equipment according to schedule determined by Maintenance Planner/Scheduler, Maintenance Supervisor and/or Manager. May be teamed with a maintenance technician of another level to train, or be trained on various phases of equipment maintenance.  Assists engineers or engineering technicians in the building of various FAB and MFG production equipment. Reads, interprets, and corrects (properly red lines) mechanical and electrical drawings and electrical schematics to wire electrical systems.  Knows how to locate drawings.  Identifies discrepancies between actual part and drawings.  Makes operational recommendations to engineers on functional design changes or adaptations to be made to production equipment.   Creates/re-writes maintenance department procedures or work instructions and develops Preventative Maintenance (PM) checklists on production equipment.  Pulls, pre-stages parts, and develops parts list required to complete a PM. Manages maintenance department projects from start to finish including scheduling and planning jobs, assigning and directing personnel, obtaining required materials, budget control, and on time project completion.  Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Position requires regular and predictable attendance. Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job. OTHER FUNCTIONS Keeps shop area clean and organizes repair parts as part of inventory. QUALIFICATIONS AND KSA’S FOR EMPLOYMENT An employee in this position, upon appointment, should have the equivalent of the following: Basic knowledge of computers Basic knowledge of Word Processing (Microsoft Word) Basic knowledge of Spreadsheet Programs (Microsoft Excel) Expert knowledge of basic math to include: working with fractions and decimals, solving simple algebraic equations, creating and solving simple math word problems, and English to metric/metric to English conversions of numbers Solid kno
