Overview: 5280 High school is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, and trauma-informed SPED Teacher to provide part-time leave coverage within our high school community. As a recovery charter school committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, we serve students who struggle with substance misuse and other self-destructive behaviors. Our students with special education needs require additional assistance with Executive Functioning, Behavior Management, Academics and Emotional Regulation. The ideal candidate will align with our mission to prioritize relationships and student well-being, working closely with the Recovery Team and general education teachers to support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) within primarily Humanities (English/History) courses, and have experience writing IEPs and conducting evaluations. This role offers a flexible schedule, with work during school hours, starting in late September through March. Key Responsibilities: Implement and monitor IEP goals by delivering specialized instruction and ensuring all accommodations and modifications are followed accurately. Manage a caseload of approximately 10 students, tracking progress and maintaining detailed documentation of goals and interventions. - Provide classroom support by co-teaching or offering push-in assistance during assigned classes, collaborating with lead teachers to identify student needs at the start of each lesson. Support students with Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and offer real-time coaching to students managing ADHD and emotional regulation challenges. Maintain accurate administrative records using platforms such as Frontline/Enrich for documentation, reporting, and compliance purposes. When appropriate, writing annual IEPs and conducting thorough evaluations Engage actively with the Recovery Team and school community, fostering a trauma-informed environment. Demonstrate a "no-ego" approach by seeking guidance and collaborating effectively with colleagues and specialists. Assist in creating a supportive classroom atmosphere conducive to student recovery and growth, aligned with the school's restorative and relationship-centered values. Qualifications (Required): Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree Background Check (Fingerprint) Clearance Previous experience working with High School students (within Denver Public Schools preferred)  Experience working with students with diverse needs  Experience working in Special Education Special Education teaching license  Proficiency in Frontline/Enrich or similar IEP management tools is required.  Valid Colorado Teaching License with a Special Education endorsement.  A trauma-informed mindset, with proven ability to work effectively with high school students in a recovery setting and a high level of emotional intelligence.
