Description
Localisation Coordinator Location: Cambridge, UK (this role is office-based) Salary: £32,000–38,000 p.a. full-time equivalent, dependent on experience Basis: Permanent; full-time, part-time or flexible Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the UK The Role The Raspberry Pi Foundation offers free computing education resources that young people all over the world use to learn about coding and creating things with digital technologies. To make these resources more accessible, especially for young people from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds, we work to localise them in line with local communities' needs. For example, our more than 200 free online projects are available in up to 32 languages thanks to the efforts of the volunteer translators we support. We are also localising our cutting-edge Experience AI classroom resources for multiple countries and schooling systems, in collaboration with delivery partners and language service providers.  We are looking for a Localisation Coordinator to join the Foundation’s translation and localisation team to support our localisation work and the translation volunteer community. Working closely with the Localisation Manager and the other Localisation Coordinator within the communications and marketing team, you will implement translation processes day to day, contribute to improving processes and tools, and provide support to volunteer translators.  This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who will relish a diverse role in an organisation  that is at the forefront of the movement to broaden access to computing education. You may be someone who brings experience in the localisation industry or of technical translation processes and wishes to gain experience of project and community management. Or you may have experience of working for a language service provider and are interested in working on the customer side. You do not need to bring any coding skills to this role, but you need to look forward to starting to learn the basics. You should have a strong eye for detail and be a clear communicator. You should also enjoy learning about translation technology and getting to grips with software systems and technical processes. We work hard to make sure that the Foundation is a place where everyone is supported to do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you're the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be joining an exceptional team of people who care about our mission and each other. Responsibilities General coordination of translation projects to make sure they are completed on time, on budget, and to the required quality expectations, including tasks such as gathering requirements, scheduling activities, tracking and reporting progress and costs, liaising as necessary with stakeholders, vendors, translators, or volunteers Using AI translation tools to prepare materials for translation  Performing or facilitating desktop publishing and quality assurance of translated materials Publishing completed translations and maintaining existing translations online, in collaboration with our digital products team Onboarding and supporting new and existing translation volunteers, e.g. through training resources, translation events, and Q&A sessions Maintaining termbases, translation memories, style guidelines, and AI resources Supporting the implementation of improvements to translation processes and tools, and their documentation Experience and personal attributes We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth. We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they have some, but not necessarily all, of the experience and personal attributes listed here.  Experience of project coordination in the localisation industry, e.g. working with or for language service providers
