Role Description Amtech is seeking a hands-on Lead QA Engineer to define the Quality Engineering strategy and technical direction for one or more teams or a major product area. The Lead QA Engineer will establish standards for manual testing, Playwright automation, API and integration testing, performance engineering, CI/CD quality gates, AI-assisted testing, and release governance. This role is accountable for quality outcomes across releases and cross-team initiatives while remaining actively involved in technical design, reviews, and complex problem resolution. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES                Quality Strategy and Testing Define the Quality Engineering strategy, risk model, and release-readiness standards for assigned teams or product areas. Establish coverage expectations across manual, automation, API, database, integration, performance, resilience, and end-to-end testing. Lead requirements, architecture, design, and release-quality reviews. Provide evidence-based release recommendations and communicate residual risks to technical and business stakeholders.   Automation and Technical Engineering Define and govern Playwright automation architecture using JavaScript or TypeScript. Establish reusable framework standards, coding practices, review expectations, and reporting capabilities. Define CI/CD quality gates for pull requests, deployments, regression runs, and releases. Improve automation stability, maintainability, execution efficiency, and coverage across teams.   Performance and Non-Functional Testing Define the strategy for load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability, capacity, and resilience testing. Establish realistic workload models and measurable performance thresholds. Guide the use of JMeter, k6, Gatling, Locust, or equivalent tools. Partner with Engineering, DevOps, Architecture, and Database teams to identify bottlenecks and capacity risks.   Quality Improvement and Leadership Lead root-cause analysis for production defects, recurring quality issues, and automation instability.
