Role Overview The Junior Coding Associate (Contractor) supports IntusCare’s Risk Adjustment team by performing State Encounter coding activities. This role is focused on accurate and compliant coding of assigned encounters under the direction of the Manager of Risk Adjustment and Encounter Coding. This is a task-oriented, entry-level role designed for individuals developing foundational coding skills in a structured, quality-controlled environment. Key Responsibilities Ancillary Coding - Apply CPT and E & M codes in accordance with AMA coding standards and specific requirements for state encounter submission. - Ensure accurate code selection reflects the complexity, medical decision-making, and time documented by the provider for each encounter. - Ensure coding is supported by appropriate clinical documentation. - Accurately document coding decisions using established templates and tools. Quality & Compliance - Maintain high standards of coding accuracy and consistency in all assigned work. - Follow all regulatory requirements and internal quality guidelines. - Participate in quality reviews and feedback sessions to improve coding performance. - Flag missing or unclear documentation for review by senior coding staff. Productivity & Workflow - Complete assigned daily and weekly coding volumes based on team needs. - Adhere to defined workflows, turnaround times, and submission deadlines. - Utilize designated coding platforms and internal tools to complete tasks. - Escalate questions or blockers to the Manager or senior coders in a timely manner. Qualifications Required - Active coding certification (CPC, CCS, RHIT, or CRC preferred) - Basic understanding of medical terminology and diagnosis coding - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow defined processes Preferred - 0–1 year of coding experience (internships, training programs, or entry-level roles acceptable) - Exposure to risk adjustment or State Medicaid encounter coding Compensation: The hourly rate for this role is $24.00. 40 hours a week. 9:00am-5:00pm in your timezone.
