About the Company   The mining industry has steadily become worse at finding new ore deposits, requiring >10X more capital to make discoveries compared to 30 years ago. The easy-to-find, near-surface deposits have largely been found, and the industry has chronically under-invested in new exploration technology, relying on the manual techniques of yesteryear – even as demand accelerates for copper, lithium, and other metals to build electric vehicles, renewable energy, and data centers. KoBold builds AI models for mineral exploration and deploys those models—alongside our novel sensors—to guide decisions on KoBold-owned-and-operated exploration programs. About The Role: This position combines front-line IT support with data digitization responsibilities, providing critical technical assistance to ensure smooth and reliable operations. As the first point of contact for users, you will diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues across multiple time zones, delivering support both remotely and on-site. Beyond troubleshooting and user training, you will contribute to system maintenance and operational reliability, while also digitizing unstructured data into accurate, well-organized records that enhance accessibility and efficiency across the organization.   This role is based out of our office in Lubumbashi and may require occasional travel to and from site locations. Please note that this is not a traditional 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. position—working hours are 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., requiring flexibility and commitment to supporting global operations. Reporting to the IT Lead, the responsibilities of this position include: Key Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of the role include: Testing and evaluating new technology to ensure compatibility and efficiency with existing systems. Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks, responding promptly to service issues and requests. Providing technical support across the company (in person or over the phone) and creating step-by-step training material for system users. Setting up accounts for new users and managing access permissions and passwords. Ensuring security and upgrades are applied to desktops and laptops and maintaining firewall and virus protection software. Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners. Troubleshooting system and network issues, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults. Ensure data accuracy, quality, and integrity during the digitization process. Organize, categorize, and maintain digitized data in centralized systems for easy retrieval and use.
