Description
We're  looking for an experienced Import & Export Control Manager to build and own  Twentyfour's  export control function from the ground up.  You'll  make sure every drone,  component , and piece of technical data crosses borders fully legally — keeping us fast in the field and audit-proof toward BAFA, Zoll, and our defense customers. This is a build-it-yourself role: you own the playbook, the  authority of  contacts, and the processes that let the rest of the company move at speed. Own the function: build and run import & export control end-to-end — finished drones, supply-chain components, and IP/technical data Manage licenses: handle all license applications and authority contact (BAFA, Zoll, and BMWK where needed) Classify everything: sort products and components by Ausfuhrliste, dual-use numbers, and customs tariff codes Set the rules: build and enforce policies for employee travel with controlled knowledge/hardware and for RFQ/supplier onboarding Screen the field: run sanctions and end-user screening across customers and suppliers Keep us sharp: train engineering, sales, and procurement on the basics, track regulatory changes, and keep documentation audit-ready Have got the foundation: a degree or vocational training in a relevant field — law, international trade, business administration, logistics/supply chain, customs & taxation, or political/security studies (we care more about what you've done than the title on the certificate) Know the rulebook: hands-on experience with German/EU export control,  AWG/AWV, EU Dual-Use Regulation 2021/821, and KWKG Have done the paperwork: a proven track record with BAFA license applications (Ausfuhrgenehmigungen, Nullbescheide) and end-use documentation (EUC) Can classify: experience assigning AL/dual-use numbers and HS/tariff codes to military or dual-use products See the risks: working knowledge of sanctions/embargo screening (EU, UN, US) and customs procedures Speak both: fluent German (C1+) and English US regimes: familiarity with ITAR/EAR re-export rules (we run US components in our supply chain) Tech affinity: a feel for drones, electronics, or RF — or experience with intangible technology transfer (data, software, IP) Startup speed: time in a defense startup or scaling manufacturer, not only large-corporate compliance departments Real impact & ownership:  Shape high-tech defense systems and take responsibility from day one   Mission-driven environment:  Work on technologies that matter for European security and sovereignty   Competitive package:  Competitive salary, EGYM Wellpass, corporate benefits, and equity options aligned with role and level   Deep tech environment:  Get hands-on experience with cutting-edge drone technology and real operational use cases   Grow fast:  Steep learning curve for juniors, strategic influence and leadership opportunities for seniors   Startup mindset meets defence innovation:  flat hierarchies, fast decisions, and space for your ideas.   Flexibility:  Flexible hours, remote options, and relocation support   Strong team:  International, driven colleagues and a culture built on exchange, trust, and shared success
