Description
The American Housing Corporation is on a mission to solve America's housing crisis through all-out production. We believe that America's affordability crisis is fundamentally a production crisis, and that solving it requires a vertically integrated development approach: We buy land, and manufacture, install, and sell our homes directly to customers. This is the only way to build at the scale necessary to solve this crisis. The American Dream is built, not inherited. We're hiring the best engineers, designers, and builders to solve the hardest problem in America. As General Manager, you will build and lead AHC’s homebuilding business in Austin. You will own the market from land acquisition through profitable home closings, translating company strategy and manufacturing capacity into an executable portfolio of homes and serving as the single point of accountability for Austin’s operating plan, financial performance, schedule, quality, and risk. You will help build the team and operating system required to deliver AHC’s first Austin homes and scale, ensuring that land, design, production, installation, field construction, and sales move together as one system. You will be measured above all on profitable closings, margin, capital efficiency, cycle time, quality, and forecast reliability, with no surprises. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role reporting directly to the CEO. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Develop and execute the market operating plan, with accountability for acquisitions, starts, completions, closings, margin, overhead, and capital deployment. - Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team, establish clear accountability, and create a culture of urgency, ownership, and rigorous execution. - Maintain the pipeline of land, permitted projects, production-ready homes, active construction, and for-sale inventory required to support the market plan. - Ensure every project has a credible scope, budget, schedule, and path to completion before capital is committed, then drive execution through permitting, production, installation, field construction, and closing. - Manage cost-to-complete, margin, cash requirements, scope changes, and capital exposure, making disciplined tradeoffs across growth, speed, quality, and risk. - Integrate our operating system. Align land, design, manufacturing, installation, construction, and sales so that factory output, site readiness, field capacity, and market demand remain synchronized. - Establish the stage gates, handoffs, management cadences, systems, and performance reporting required to deliver homes consistently at increasing volume. - Use operating data and field feedback to reduce cycle time, cost, rework, failed inspections, punch, and warranty exposure while improving safety and quality. - Give the CEO and company leadership an accurate, forward-looking view of performance, risks, resource needs, and decisions. QUALIFICATIONS - 10+ years of leadership experience delivering complex projects, with direct budget-and-schedule ownership across multiple functions (production homebuilding, manufactured or modular housing, vertically integrated development, or comparable asset operating environment strongly preferred) - Experience leading a market, division, portfolio, or business unit with meaningful accountability for financial and operating results. - Strong working knowledge of the residential development and homebuilding lifecycle, including land acquisition, underwriting, permitting, preconstruction, construction, and home delivery. - Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing, cross-functional teams with clear accountability for shared outcomes. - Strong financial acumen, with the ability to understand project and portfolio economics, manage budgets and forecasts, protect margin, and make disciplined capital allocation decisions. - A track record of delivering projects or portfolios on time, within budget, and to defined quality an
