SCX is a leading UK engineering business delivering innovative mechanical handling, control systems and kinetic architecture solutions across the Defence, Nuclear, Aerospace, Infrastructure and Sports & Entertainment sectors. We're looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to join our team, helping to design and deliver high-integrity control systems for some of the UK's most technically challenging engineering projects. What you'll be doing You'll play a key role in ensuring our control systems are safe, compliant and delivered to the highest engineering standards. You'll: Design and develop safety-related control systems for complex engineering projects. Produce technical documentation, safety specifications and design calculations. Carry out risk assessments, system verification and validation activities. Support Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT). Work closely with clients and project teams to deliver safe, high-quality solutions. Mentor junior engineers and promote best practice in functional and machinery safety. What we're looking for You'll be degree-qualified in Electrical, Control or a related engineering discipline, with experience designing safety-related control systems in an industrial or regulated environment. Ideally, you'll have experience with: Functional and machinery safety standards (such as BS EN 13849, BS EN 61508 or BS EN 62061). Electrical design tools such as Eplan. PLC/HMI platforms including Siemens, Rockwell or Schneider. Safety validation, risk assessments and technical documentation.
