Description
ABOUT LEAP Leap is one of the fastest-growing benefits solutions and a category-defining pioneer in employer specialty pharmacy. We are reshaping how life-changing therapies are delivered and financed, ensuring patients get the treatment they need while employers finally get a fair deal. Specialty drugs and infusions represent nearly 10% of all healthcare spend and are the fastest-growing cost category for employers. Leap tackles this challenge with a novel approach: eliminating hidden markups, expanding access to high-quality infusion providers, and bringing clarity and fairness to how therapies are priced and paid for. We’re proud to partner with numerous Fortune 500 companies and leading TPAs. Each patient we serve creates immediate ROI: lower costs, improved access, and better care. Join us as we redefine what’s possible in specialty care. ABOUT THE ROLE This role sits at the intersection of engineering and operations. As Leap’s Forward Deployed Engineer on the Care Operations team, you will own the technical infrastructure that activates new members and moves them through the funnel from deal close to first infusion. You’re not supporting a system someone else built. You’re building the system. The foundation exists but needs to be rebuilt properly. You’ll inherit a set of workflows, integrations, and data pipelines across a series of internal and external tools, assess what’s working, gut what isn’t, and architect something that scales. Half your time will be spent writing code and building automation; the other half will be spent in the operational reality of the team: diagnosing where members get stuck, redesigning processes, and making sure the tools you build actually solve the right problems. This is an ownership role. There is no hand-off queue, no ticket backlog managed by someone else, and no layer between you and the outcomes. When member activation stalls, you’ll know why and you’ll fix it. You’ll report directly to the Head of Member Ops. and Strategy and work closely with Clinical Ops, Member Growth, and Client Success. If you’ve spent time in ops-heavy or process-engineering environments and found yourself wishing you could just build the tool rather than submit a request for it, this role was designed for you. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Member Activation & Funnel Infrastructure - Own the technical systems that move members from “New” to “Scheduled” and “Infused”, including the automations, integrations, and workflows that drive each transition. - Identify funnel drop-off points through data and direct observation; build the fixes, not just the recommendations. - Design and maintain the member activation pipeline, ensuring every new employer deal translates into a structured, repeatable onboarding flow. - Build tooling that surfaces the right information to the right person at the right time, reducing manual work and improving response rates. Systems Integration & Tooling - Build and maintain integrations across all of our internal and external tooling as the stack evolves. - Write production-grade code and automation (Python, SQL, APIs, webhooks, low-code tools) that the Care Ops team depends on daily. - Leverage AI tooling, including LLMs, to build faster, automate intelligently, and solve problems that traditional scripting can’t. - Own data quality and system reliability; when something breaks or drifts, you catch it and fix it before it affects members. Operational Process Design - Translate operational problems into technical solutions, and technical constraints into process design that the team can actually execute. - Document workflows, system architecture, and integration logic so the team isn’t dependent on tribal knowledge. - Work directly with Care Coordinators and clinical staff to understand where manual effort is highest and where automation will have the most impact. - Contribute to sprint planning and roadmap priorit
