Description
We're building Percy, the AI agent that runs financial crime investigations end to end. Compliance teams at banks and fintechs are drowning in financial crimes investigations. Transaction volumes are surging, regulators keep raising the bar, and the work still runs on manual review queues that take hours and are stitched together from legacy vendors. We believe AI will make most of these decisions within a few years, so we built Percy to handle them. Percy learns each team's procedures and makes the same calls their analysts would: clearing false positives, escalating real risk, writing the case narrative, and documenting every decision for audit. It cuts review workloads by 70%+ and routinely catches fraud that human reviewers miss. Percy is only possible because of the identity platform we've spent four years building underneath it. Because we own the entire identity flow, Percy resolves ambiguity at the source, running its own checks across our verification tools before a case ever reaches a human. We're backed by QED, Index, Box Group, and Lerer Hippeau, and trusted by companies like Bilt, Nuvei, and MoonPay. We 5x'd revenue last year and plan to do it again in 2026. The team is small, senior, and ships fast. THE ROLE We're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to get Percy live inside our customers' operations. You'll embed with banks and fintechs to learn how they run investigations, then implement Percy and build the agents that do the work against their procedures, configuring and extending the product rather than building bespoke software for each account, and making every deployment more repeatable than the last. When a customer hits a bug or edge case, you're the engineer who fixes it fast. It's a hands-on, high-ownership role that keeps you close to both the code and the customer, and what you learn in the field will directly shape what we build next. You'll report directly to the CTO. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Implement Percy for customers. Lead technical deployment and integration of Percy into a customer's environment, getting it connected, configured, and running against their real data and workflows. - Build and tune agents. Configure and build the Percy agents that carry out each customer's investigation procedures, and iterate with them until the output is trusted and production-ready. - Fix what's in the way. Diagnose and resolve the bugs, edge cases, and issues customers hit, debugging across the stack and partnering with core engineering on deeper fixes. - Be the customer's technical partner. Be the engineer customers rely on during and after rollout, responsive, credible, and relentless about getting them to a working solution. - Close the loop with product and engineering. Bring the patterns, gaps, and feature needs you see in the field back to the team, shaping the roadmap from the front lines. - Make deployments repeatable. Build the tooling, templates, and patterns that turn each implementation into a faster, smoother one next time. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 1–4 years of experience building software, ideally including time in a customer-facing, solutions, or implementation engineering role. - A strong undergraduate degree in Computer Science (or a closely related technical field, math, physics, software engineering, or data science). We care about a rigorous engineering foundation. - A strong coder. You're genuinely good in at least one of Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, C++, or similar, and you can pick up an unfamiliar stack to get a customer unblocked. - Highly analytical, generalist problem-solver. You're eager to take on hard technical problems across data, systems, APIs, and infrastructure, and you figure them out, across both code and people. - AI-native. Familiarity with AI/LLM agents and how to configure, build, or prompt them effectively. - Customer-facing instincts. You communicate clearly and credibly with both technical and non-technical stakeh
