We are seeking an experienced Estimator for our Midtown Manhattan office. Estimators are responsible for accurately determining the total costs associated with a construction project by executing a detailed line-item budget for each trade. The ideal candidate must have an acute attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with fixed deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed conceptual budgets and estimating from pre-construction, concept design, schematic design and design development documents
Perform detailed take-offs of all trades.
Initiate and manage entire bid process (construction management and general contractor) inclusive of preparation of detailed bid package
Ensure accurate and proper submissions & proposals by all subcontractors
Build and maintain vendor relationships
Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and subcontractors
Work collaboratively with field team to communicate deliverables and procurement schedules
Level subcontractor bid proposals for accuracy and scope gaps
Prepare scope of work documentation by division
Attend and lead subcontractor calls and meetings as needed
Conduct on-site walk-throughs as needed
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in budgeting and estimating for commercial construction projects. Both core & shell and commercial interior knowledge required
Retail construction experience preferred
Proven ability to compile estimates and hard bid packages with trade breakdowns
Strong presentation skills and ability to lead or participate meetings with subcontractors, clients, owners, and architects as needed
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task
Ability to deliver to deadlines for multiple concurrent projects
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Knowledge of Tri-State subcontractor base
Technical Experience:
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings
Ability to value engineer a project
Strong knowledge of MS Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook
Knowledge of On Screen Takeoff
Knowledge of Sage/Timberline
