Description
Do you want to dive in the fast-growing industry of drones and get a rewarding experience in a dynamic scale-up environment?  At Flyability, we believe that robots should be sent into hazardous places and dangerous environments instead of humans. To support our belief, we created Elios, the world’s first collision-tolerant flying robot that can safely enter, survey, and inspect confined spaces so that people don’t have to. With more than 130 employees, Flyability is the pioneer in the UAS indoor inspection industry. Joining Flyability is not just taking on a new job; it is seizing the opportunity to improve the lives of millions of people and contribute to the future of robotics. To complete our creative and dynamic team in Lausanne, we are looking for talented interns to join us. Engineering Internship Opportunities Starting date: all year long Why Intern at Flyability? We don't believe in "coffee-and-photocopy" internships. At Flyability, all of our interns work on real-time topics that directly impact our current developments. From day one, you will have the opportunity to truly own your role within the company, collaborating closely with cross-functional R&D teams and seeing your ideas take flight in real-world robotic applications. Discover Our Open Engineering Roles: As we offer engineering internship opportunities across multiple teams, applications are managed through our Career page. Please visit our website to explore our current openings and apply for internships that best match your interests and background.  Our current internship opportunities at a glance: Robotics Engineer Intern - SLAM The Role: In this role you will work on next-generation localization and mapping for autonomous drones, helping bridge research and real-world deployment on the Elios 3 platform in GPS-denied environments. What you will own:  Develop and benchmark global relocalization and place recognition methods, improve robustness by detecting and rejecting false localization matches, integrate and validate your work in our SLAM framework using simulation and real-world data, evaluate performance across accuracy, robustness, efficiency, and failure cases. Robotics Engineer Intern - Autonomous Navigation  The Role:  In this role, you will contribute to advancing the navigation and autonomy capabilities of our Elios 3 drone, improving how robotic systems perceive and operate in complex indoor environments. You will bridge cutting-edge robotics research with real-world deployment on a production-grade platform. What you will own: Develop and improve algorithms for autonomous navigation and environmental understanding, work on planning and decision-making systems for reliable and efficient mission execution, integrate and validate new capabilities within our navigation and autonomy stack using simulation and real-world testing, define and evaluate system performance across robustness, efficiency, reliability, and overall behavior. Robotics Engineer Intern - Spatial AI & Intelligent Robotics The Role:  In this role, you will work at the intersection of robotics, AI, and spatial intelligence to improve how autonomous systems perceive, represent, and reason about complex environments. You will contribute to AI-driven capabilities on the Elios 3 platform, bridging cutting-edge research with real-world robotic applications. What you will own:  Develop methods for spatial representation and AI-based reasoning, combine perception with contextual information to improve autonomous decision-making, integrate and validate your work within our robotics stack, evaluate performance in terms of robustness, efficiency, and system behavior. Electronics Engineer Intern The Role: Join our Electronics team to be actively involved in designing and developing electronic circuits for drones and payloads.
