THE TEAM AND ROLE We’re looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer (all genders) to join our infrastructure team and take ownership of deploying and operating our software across both cloud and clinical environments. In this role, you will not only drive technical excellence in infrastructure and operations, but also lead and develop the DevOps function. You’ll work closely with developers, product teams, and leadership to ensure our systems are scalable, secure, and reliable, while setting standards and guiding the team. This role is critical in shaping how we build, deploy, and operate healthcare software at scale. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES - Lead and develop the DevOps team, including mentoring, hiring, and setting best practices - Own the infrastructure strategy across cloud and on-premise (clinical) environments - Design, build, and operate scalable, secure, and highly available systems - Drive CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code across the organization - Collaborate closely with engineering and product to enable efficient and reliable delivery - Establish and improve observability, incident response, and fault tolerance practices - Ensure compliance, security, and reliability in clinical environments - Identify bottlenecks and continuously improve performance, tooling, and processes YOUR QUALIFICATIONS - Degree in Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience - Strong experience in DevOps / infrastructure roles, ideally in scalable or production-critical systems - Experience in leading or mentoring DevOps teams, with the ability to guide and grow engineers - Deep expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Linux environments - Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform, Ansible) and modern DevOps toolchains - Strong understanding of monitoring, alerting, and logging systems - Experience in leading or mentoring engineers - Strong ownership mindset and hands-on problem-solving approach - Interest in working in a fast-paced, high-impact environment - Fluent English required; German is a plus but not required YOUR BENEFITS - Variety in your tasks and the opportunity to take ownership - An international, informal team structure in a motivating start-up atmosphere, allowing you to participate directly in our customer growth story and the overall success of Avelios - Ability to gain valuable hands-on experience in a startup backed by leading international VCs - Support for your personal development through continuous learning and feedback - Set your own rhythm with flexible working hours and trust-based time tracking - A virtual stock option package (VSOP) that lets you participate in Avelios’ long-term value creation - A monthly meal allowance up to 75 euros, full coverage of the Deutschlandticket, Urban Sports Club or a subsidized Wellpass membership, a bike leasing program and Corporate Benefits that give you access to discounts from a wide range of providers in various areas
